Manchester Magic 87- 79 West Herts Warriors |
|
Last time the Warriors were at the Amaechi Basketball Centre, they won a
very close Trophy game, and this was another nail-biting affair. The
visitors were soon into their close-defending, all-action attacking game and
led at the quarter by 19-17. Missing Andrew Mackay and Gavin Smith, but with
Danny Craven, this was not the same team the Magic had put out in their last
encounter, and when Craven came on at the start of the second quarter, the
mood changed. Stefan Gill hit a nice three-pointer, the Magic led by 22-21
and they were never headed again. Andy Thomson took advantage of not having
to be the main big man to rack up some impressive points, but the
quiet star of the game was Stanley Burrison, who looked after the Warriors'
basket so well that he ended the game with an amazing 23 rebounds, 19 of
them defensive. With possession like that, their scorers had every
chance to win the game, but their shooting was just that bit wayward. Matt
Hogarth was also having a strong game for the Magic and they were 42-35
ahead at the half. |

Scouting Report On Stanley Burrison |
|
Category |
Comments |
|
Physical & Mental |
Stanley is very tough both physically and mentally. He is a strong player
who plays physically. He focuses on helping his team win as well as being
the best player that he can be. |
|
Ball Skills |
Stanley has great ball skills for a person of his height. He is capable of
playing any position, whether it be Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Forward or
Center. Stanley has solid fundamentals when dribbling the ball and exhibits
some flash. At 6’9” this is quite an accomplishment and greatly solidifies
his game. |
|
Offense |
Stanley is a natural scorer with multiple threats. He can score from the
perimeter, from the post, and off the dribble. Additionally, Stanley
attacks the glass for offensive rebounds, leading to many opportunities for
second-chance baskets. |
|
Rebounding |
Stanley is a tough rebounder attacking the glass on both ends of the court.
He consistently is a team and league leader in this category and excels
greatly at collecting defensive rebounds. |
|
Defense |
Stanley is capable of defending any position. He is quick like a guard, but
also plays tall like a center. Stanley takes great pride in being able to
shut down his opponent and enjoys the challenge of guarding the best player
on the opposition. |

TESTIMONIAL &
REFERENCE:
"
Stanley is one of the longest players I have ever seen. He has the
ability to score off the dribble and in the post. He can handle the ball
and is a very good shooter from the perimeter. He can defend multiple
positions and has a very good work ethic. Stanley just finished a
very successful season with the West Herts Warriors of the EBL in London,
where he averaged over 20ppg and 10rpg. Stanley would have played at a
much higher level after finishing college but played limited minutes during his
two seasons at Lee. However, Stanley led the nation in scoring in junior
college as a sophomore and was highly recruited by major college programs
across the country. Stanley has a great demeanor and is a great person.
He is very comical and will keep the team mood light. He was a great player
to coach and had a tremendous work ethic, always doing what was needed to
win."

Head Assistant Coach, Lee University
