ALBANY, N.Y. (June 6, 2003) -- University at Albany men’s basketball coach Will Brown announced today that Lucious Jordan, an all-state player in New York on the high school level, has transferred into the program. Jordan, who played the last two years at Loyola College in Maryland, will be eligible for competition in the 2003-04 season.

Jordan, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard from Albany, N.Y. (Colonie Central H.S.), led Loyola in scoring with a 13.2 average as a sophomore.  A starter in all 28 games, he also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists, plus led the team in minutes played at 34.6 per game.

As a freshman, Jordan was chosen to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. He led the Greyhounds in scoring at 13.0 points per game, and was the only freshman in the conference to lead his team in that category.

“Lucious Jordan is a proven player at the Division I level and will have an immediate impact in our program,” Brown said. “He can
score points with his ability to get to the rim and is a tough, physical matchup for opponents. Lucious and Jamar Wilson will provide us with two guys who can score in the backcourt. As a local athlete from the Capital Region, he has a strong following and that will also benefit our program in the future.”
