PLAYER/#15: Erazem Lorbek

DATE: Sept 8, 2011

GAME: Euro Championships

SCHOOL/TEAM: Slovenia National Team

DOB : Feb 2 1984    HEIGHT:        2.10m   WEIGHT: Thin        POSITION:    PF

Physical: There is not a lot of power in this forward. There are skills. He is not weak but can be taken advantage of down low (with power moves). He is long armed. Getting good position and holding it are his strengths as a rebounder, gets his hands on a lot of balls inside as a result.

Shooting: Shooting, interior offensive footwork, touch around basket are all there. Knows how to use backboard and has a high shot release. Very effective in a catch and shoot situation up to Euro three point range. Having a good tournament and putting up leadership numbers. Has inside jump hook and up and under but strength is jump shot (more of a set shot).

Defense / Rebounding: Adequate. Position and anticipation are his strengths. Body strength and density are not. Plays a little too straight up and is prone to going for fakes, consistent with a high center of gravity. Not an explosive jumper by any stretch but is active and smart... Keeps it alive, gets a hand, arm inside to create offensive rebounds for others.

Position Offense: Seems to me that, more and more, good “team” players are valued less and less... when compared to the individual achiever with more,” one on one” capabilities. Erazem is another team player and part of a conceived practiced system. He is comfortable putting it on the floor as he is well coordinated but lacks that quickness to “create” many direct scoring opportunities. He can handle it enough to get inside and split defenses as a good passer and sees angles inside just don’t expect Dr. J.

Miscellaneous:  Outlet passing is good. Not a leader per se but has a very professional attitude. Has been with FC Barcelona here in Spain for the past three seasons and has been a consistent contributor in their recent titles. Runs the floor but is not a sprinter. Not a great finisher in up tempo game but (usually) if he hits his first shot then opponent is in for a long day.

Averaging 12.ppg  5.6 rpg and 2 apg in Euro Championships 2011.
